About

I started blogging at Caring Bridge the day after my initial breast cancer diagnosis, in December 2011, and I continued blogging for about a year.  I closed the blog provisionally in December 2012, noting that renewal of the blog would only occur if my cancer returned.  Well, so far as I know I remain in remission, but it’s nonetheless time to start blogging again.  I haven’t exactly been silent in the past twenty months,  but I have lost touch with some people who were following the Caring Bridge blog.  Further, I have missed having an outlet for my observations, rants, and ruminations.  So, having been encouraged by kind readers of the previous blog, I have created this one.

I initially thought a blog would need a theme, but I’ve decided to let any themes emerge from whatever I wind up writing.  I also thought a blog needed a clever title, but I decided to follow the advice I give the students in my English classes and just start writing.  I’ll figure out a title later.

This blog is open to the public, which comes with risks but also opportunities.  You are free to share posts with others.  I will be respecting the privacy of my family, friends, and colleagues, so if you are in one or more of those categories you need not worry that I will be revealing your secrets or foibles.  I invite comments from all, but ask that all comments are courteous and respectful.  I don’t expect readers to agree with everything I say, but I do expect readers who oppose same-sex marriage and think I’m an abomination to find more congenial reading material and avoid commenting in this space.

  1. I’m so happy that you are going to be blogging again. I look forward to reading your ruminations, rants, and wry observations about life. I agree that a title will come to you once you start blogging regularly. Congratulations on taking an action step.
